How much work actually is needed for a well maintained Porsche? I am looking at some older 1980’s ish Porsche’s because they look awesome and I’m getting bored with my current car (1995 BMW 525i). Everyone says that they are way to unreliable and are money pits. What do u think?
The battery seems fine, alternator too. Everything in the car is turned off yet still sometimes the main fan will run even after the engine is shut off.
I have access to a mint condition black GT3 with 5,000 miles for under $90k. Alternatively, for around $60k I can acquire a Z06. In terms of performance and quality, which should I get? I am used to driving small sports cars, so certain comforts are not important to me. I’m inclined to go for the GT3, but it is not a special edition. The Z06 impresses me, and the price difference is a factor as well. Which should I get?
It was warming up and just cut-off. I,m pretty good at fixing cars but I,m stuck. I,ve replaced the fuel filter, pump, and fuel relay. I,ve checked the timing belts . All fuses and spark plugs. It turns over fine but just won’t fire up.
Hi, I have recently bought and am in the process of fixing up an 84′ Porsche 944. My goal is to get it set up for racing in a few years. I’m wondering if I can have it start up using a button start like in real race cars. A lot of times when I watch racing on TV, the drivers flip some switches and then hold down a button to start their cars. I’m wondering why this is used? Also, I would like to have this in my car just for a show effect and to make it like a real race car.
What would I first need to be able to do this? I’d appreciate it if someone could answer these questions.
I was wondering what my 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera is worth?
It has a 3.2 liter, 6 cyl engine. 60k miles. “Good” condition (paint, interior & mechanics). The car is primarily driven on the weekends (kept covered inside a garage in Virginia).
I’m just not sure whether I want to keep it long-term or not. Its nearly paid off, but insurance, maintenance and parking costs have me weighing my options.
Also, should I expect the value to escalate once it becomes an antique (25 yrs old)? Should I get antique plates and antque insurance in that case?
by the way…I truly love this car. not many people get to buy their dream car at age 23…but eventually I’m sure I will have more important things to spend my money on…like a house.
thanks for the input.
I’m haveing a dispute over weight with a trucking company that is telling me that the transmission weighs 805lbs. I personally weighed it and it weighed 220 lbs. I have never seen a transmission weight close to a 1000lbs in any sports car.
Help me beat this carrier and win one for the little guy!!!
